Last month, we had a chance to start the year by taking a break in Yogyakarta for a friend’s wedding and weekend gateway. Knowing that we were about to bound for a chilling trip, we decided to use Airbnb to sort out our accommodation. And after torn in between few options, Sae Sae Hostel was the best pick of all.
Located at Mantrijeron area, down a small alley away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Sae Sae Hostel was surprisingly offering us the good vibe to recharge. It was not fancy, but it surely was a comforting place to rest the mind from the crowd we had back in Jakarta. And although most of the guest during our stay were foreigners from the other side of the world, the sense of locality was strong, thanks to the humble gestures and of course… tropical shades from the green compounds to enjoy.
As time goes by slowly in Yogyakarta, me and Eps spent most of our short-but-long times hanging out at this hub. We met new faces, exchanged ideas, zonked out together, blended in the common area, and also daydreamed about how important to have such solitary place to calibrate our energies once in awhile.
Somehow we feel lucky to found what we needed — cozy space to spend the weekend, laid back surrounding, back-to-nature materials, and friendly staff who made us feel like home. Good to know that Sae Sae affirmed its warmth and organic touch, and that’s what we love the most. Twas’ definitely ground us back to the basic idea of it all.
